Grupo Palacios has its origins in the 60s, when Jaime Palacios and his wife Dolores continued with the family business of a butcher shop in Albelda de Iregua, La Rioja. It was a family with three children and they decided that to move the family forward they needed to expand their business, so they took a big leap in 1983, with the inauguration of their Riojan chorizo ​​factory in Albelda de Iregua.

Since 1999, the company launched a diversification strategy by introducing other value-added food products, including refrigerated pizzas, fresh tortillas and frozen pastries, as well as a complete range of meat substitute products (Plant Based). ).

It belongs to the Rioja chorizo ​​IGP along with four other operators.

Palacios has generated a sales volume of more than 380 million euros in 2023, it has 14 production plants, eleven in Spain, two in the United Kingdom and another in the United States and its products are distributed in more than 50 countries.

Furthermore, Palacios has established itself as the world's leading company in the manufacturing and marketing of chorizo ​​sarta and refrigerated potato tortillas, with a workforce of more than 1,000 employees. The company constantly seeks innovative ways to reduce its environmental impact and promote responsible practices throughout its value chain.

Regarding internationalization, we have a commercial presence in 52 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa. The first Spanish in the approval of chorizo ​​for sale in the US with the difficulty and demand that this implied. In 2023, 33% of turnover came from international markets and our goal is to reach 50% in the medium term.

As mentioned at the beginning, Palacios was, from its beginnings, a single-product manufacturer, it only manufactured Riojan chorizo ​​and this product was the seed that drove the company from its beginnings. To this day, it continues to be its most recognized product by consumers. 80% of the population knows Palacios brand chorizo.

The Palacios family were open to change and quickly adapted to the growth of Large Distribution and that ability to adapt and accept new times was key in their development.
