What a great time we had!
We were really looking forward to celebrate this I World Recreational Football Championship, held on May 25th at the field of La Estrella C.F. in Logroño (La Rioja). We gathered there from early in the morning a good handful of friends.
The idea was clear: to get together to celebrate a soccer tournament and eat a chorizo sandwich, which IGP Chorizo Riojano wanted to give to all attendees. We wanted to remember the taste of a good chorizo sandwich that, when we were little, we used to eat after recess. That feeling of unwrapping a chorizo sandwich after a soccer match in the schoolyard. The excitement with which we played those games, disputing every ball and where every goal was celebrated as if it were the final of a world cup, is a very nice memory.
These were the four participating teams that competed in the I Recreational Soccer Tournament:

Once all the participants were present, the tent with the trophies and the snacks and drinks were set up, we started the 1st IGP Chorizo Riojano World Championship of Recreational Football.
First of all, the referees made a draw with the four captains to see how the pairings for the semifinals would be. The two matches were very hard-fought, with a high level of play by the veteran teams. The semifinals were as follows:

Once the semifinals were played and after 15 minutes of rest, the third and fourth place and the hotly contested final began simultaneously, which as in the great events, was decided by penalties.

We then began the presentation of trophies and medals to the winners and the top scorer of the match. From IGP Chorizo Riojano we want to thank the components of the 4 teams for their sportsmanship and good vibes that made this event a great tournament.
Now yes, once finished, it was time to taste the sandwiches. To everyone who came to see us, and family and friends of the players and of course all of them, we invited them to a sandwich and a drink to enjoy.
An event that we are looking forward to reach its second edition to enjoy, with all of you, a new event.
